Curriculum

We believe that an innovative and tailored curriculum is crucial to the success of our students. While we agree that a solid foundation of math, English, and sciences are important for all students, rather than having all of them memorize and regurgitate Calculus, Hemingway, and the chemical formula for photosynthesis all in the name of standardized testing, we believe that a curriculum that focuses on truly learning of foundational subjects enhanced with practical learning and life skills application will help create prepared and functional adults in society. We have built in blank sections of the curriculum that will allow each student to choose areas that they are interested in and create custom capsule courses to explore those passions.

This will focus on proper speech, body language, networking, interview skills, etc.

Finance

This will focus on a practical application of accounting including personal budgeting, taxes, investments, loans, purchasing a vehicle or home, etc.

Core Values

This will focus on important qualities and values in successful people:
Leadership, Integrity, Honesty, Determination, Responsibility, etc.

Entrepreneurship

This will task students with creating an idea for a business or product, as well as teaching them how to create a business plan and exploring options for funding their business. They will also receive real-world practice in running a business including marketing products, budgeting, etc.

Personal Health

This will focus on the importance of proper diet and exercise, as well as showing students how to meal plan and shop for healthy and well-rounded groceries on a budget. They will also learn the basics of food preparation and even growing their own food.

Current Events

This will be a practical exploration of current events as well as discussing how they relate to the students and their communities specifically, larger social impact, the relation to other historical events, with room for discussion and debate in an educational forum.

Career Exploration

This will be a highly fluid course depending on each student, but could focus on preparing for the GED, SAT and ACT tests, aptitude testing, interview practice, internship research, resume writing, etc.

Various Skill Workshops

This will focus on new skill each lesson: a simple, yet regularly overlooked skill in our society. For example, changing a tire, doing laundry, etc.
